Career coaching
Career coaching to find your best next step
What is career coaching?
You might feel stuck, unfulfilled, or like your current role no longer fits — but not quite know what the alternative is. That’s where career coaching can help.

I won’t tell you what you “should” do, and I don’t have a magic wand (though I wish I did!). But I do have a structured, supportive approach to help you untangle your thinking, explore what’s possible, and take confident steps towards work that fits who you are now.

In addition to my own tools, I’m a Firework-accredited career coach, trained in a framework that supports people through career change — whether you're just beginning to explore or already have a direction in mind.
What we might explore
Career coaching is different for everyone, but common themes include:

-
Feeling unfulfilled, stuck, or "off track" professionally
-
Wondering if the career you dreamed of years ago is still an option
-
Exploring ways to bring together multiple interests or passions
-
Looking for work that feels more aligned with your values or life stage
-
Building confidence after time out of work, burnout or redundancy
-
Working out how to actually make a change — not just think about it

Whether you arrive with a clear goal or a vague sense that something needs to shift, I’ll help you make sense of where you are and what you want from your next chapter.
How does it work?
I offer coaching in flexible blocks of 3 sessions. This allows us to make meaningful progress together, while also giving you space to pause, reflect, or continue as needed.

Most people find that 3 to 9 sessions across several months works well. We’ll tailor this depending on where you are in your career journey and what kind of support you need.

Between most sessions, I'll invite you to complete some work to help you make progress. This might be reflecting on your strengths and values, or perhaps researching a career pathway. We'll discuss what's reasonable for you to achieve, based on your other commitments.

Coaching is delivered online via MS Teams. If you're based in South Manchester, we can explore in-person options — whether that’s meeting in your office, grabbing a coffee, or even a walk-and-talk.
Optional: Lumina Spark profile and debrief
If you’d like to better understand your strengths, preferences and working style, you can choose to add a Lumina Spark profile to your coaching.

This isn’t a test with right or wrong answers — it’s a tool to help you reflect on how you work best, what energises you, and what kind of roles or environments might suit you.

We’ll explore your profile together in a 60-minute debrief, helping you:
-
Identify your natural strengths and preferences
-
Understand how you respond under stress or change
-
Make clearer, more confident career decisions

Cost: £250 (includes the profile and debrief session). You can add this before or during your coaching – we’ll discuss what’s right for you in our initial call. This is also available as a standalone option.
I have additional needs – how can coaching work for me?
If you have any requirements which may aid your enjoyment and success with coaching (such as assistive technologies, interpreters, extra-long sessions etc), please let me know and we can work together to make sure you get the most out of your coaching experience.

I've coached people with a range of mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression) and people who are neurodiverse (e.g. ADHD). I'm not a counsellor, and coaching should never be used as a substitute for therapeutic or medical support. However, coaching can sometimes be a useful complement. We can discuss this in strict confidence.
What it costs
-
£390 for a block of 3 x 60-minute sessions (invoiced separately)
-
Optional: +£250 for a Lumina Spark profile and debrief
If this is outside of your budget, I offer a small number of “pay what you can” places in exchange for a donation to a charity of your choice. Feel free to get in touch to ask about availability
Why choose me as a coach
I bring over 15 years’ experience in senior HR and leadership roles, so I understand the pressures and politics of working life from the inside. I’ve also made my own career shifts, so I know how daunting — and rewarding — that process can be.

I’m a Firework-accredited career coach, and I hold both ILM Level 7 and EMCC Senior Practitioner accreditation in coaching. But just as importantly, clients tell me they value my calm, down-to-earth approach. I’ll offer support and challenge in equal measure, helping you move forward without the jargon or fluff.

If you’re looking for a coach who’s warm, pragmatic and focused on helping you find what’s right for you, I’d love to hear from you.
What my clients say
"Sarah was my coach over a period of several months and I would not hesitate to recommend her services. I found Sarah to be methodical, professional and highly skilled as a coach. But, more importantly, I also found her to be kind, warm, funny and an exceptional lister. I learned a huge amount during the process of working with Sarah, where she was able to coach me on a number of professional and career-related issues, always taking a holistic approach to various discussion points. I was able to navigate some particularly challenging work scenarios thanks to Sarah's coaching."

How to get started
We’ll begin with a free, no obligation chat so we can both decide whether we’d work well together. I’ll ask what you’re hoping to get from coaching (don’t worry if it feels woolly!), and I'll share how I work. If it feels like a good fit, we'll agree a date for our first session. Click here to find a slot in my calendar. It helps me to prepare if you're able to share a little context in advance.
